Recipe for making guacamole at home

guacamole

Guacamole is a popular dip or condiment made from mashed ripe avocados mixed with various ingredients such as lime juice, onion, cilantro, tomato, garlic, and jalapeño peppers. It is a traditional Mexican dish that is enjoyed all over the world and is often served with tortilla chips, vegetables, or as a topping for tacos, burritos, and other Mexican dishes.

Guacamole is a rich source of healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Avocados are high in monounsaturated fats, which can help reduce cholesterol levels and lower the risk of heart disease. They also contain potassium, magnesium, vitamin K, vitamin E, and vitamin C. The other ingredients in guacamole also contribute to its nutritional value and delicious flavor.

Here's a simple recipe for making guacamole at home:

Ingredients:

2 ripe avocados

1/2 of a small onion, finely chopped

1/4 cup of chopped cilantro

1-2 cloves of garlic, minced

1 small jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped (optional)

Juice of 1 lime

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh into a medium-sized bowl.

Mash the avocado with a fork or a potato masher until it's mostly smooth but still a bit chunky.

Add the chopped onion, cilantro, minced garlic, and jalapeño pepper (if using) to the bowl with the mashed avocado.

Squeeze the juice of one lime over the mixture, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Mix everything together until well combined.

Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed, adding more salt, pepper, or lime juice as desired.

Cover the guacamole with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to prevent browning, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Serve cold with tortilla chips, pita chips, or vegetables for dipping.

Note: If you prefer smoother guacamole, you can blend the ingredients together in a food processor or blender instead of mashing them by hand. You can also customize the recipe by adding additional ingredients such as diced tomatoes, corn, or black beans.
