Churros are a type of fried dough pastry that originated in Spain and Portugal. They are typically made by mixing flour, water, and salt to form a dough, which is then piped through a star-shaped nozzle and deep-fried until crispy and golden brown.
Recipe for making churros:
Ingredients:
1 cup water
2 tablespoons white granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup all-purpose flour
Vegetable oil for frying
1/4 cup white granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Heat over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil.
Remove the pan from the heat and add the flour, stirring vigorously until the mixture forms a ball.
Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or a heavy-bottomed pot to 375°F (190°C).
Pipe strips of the dough into the hot oil, cutting them off with scissors. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove the churros from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels.
Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
Roll the warm churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated.
Serve immediately.
Enjoy your homemade churros!
